WHO DO WE TRAIN?

We provide high quality training planned in response to specific need. We run full day, half day and twilight training for groups of 2– 30 people.(bigger numbers on request)

Each day will to tailored to your needs. 
We also provide a consultancy service around the needs of an individual or establishment with particular communication and learning needs 

WHAT CAN WE HELP YOU WITH?

 

We can train you to have a greater awareness of communication difficulties and to develop skills and techniques involved in developing and supporting effective communication:-

 

  • Listening to facial expression, body language and behaviour,

  • Considering sensory impairment

  •  Using eye gaze,

  •  Makaton signing,

  • Objects of reference, and tactile communication

  •  Pictures photographs and symbols,

  • Visual timetables and communication books

  • Communication passports and profiles

  •  simple 1 step communicators such as Big Macks,

  • Working with PMLD ( Children and Adults)  

  • Mental Health and Complex Needs 

 

Shelagh is a Regional Makaton trainer and can deliver Beginners, Foundation Enhancement and Taster courses 
We can also provide training in software to support communication e.g. Boardmaker.

  • Bercow Report (2008)  recommends Early Intervention and extensive workforce training
